The Kansas City Chiefs lost a crucial game they could’ve won.
It’s been almost a week and we keep talking about Kadarius Toney’s offsides penalty, and rightfully so.
He was so blatantly offsides that the sole fact that they continue to blame the referees for it is confusing.
However, despite everything that’s been said and even HC Andy Reid backpedaling his criticism of officials, the former New York Giants wideout insists he was not warned by the officials (via Aaron Ladd).
#Chiefs Kadarius Toney talks his alignment. Says he was never warned in game about being offsides: “We moving forward, that’s small” pic.twitter.com/6cKwaDjXP9

Toney then downplayed the incident called it “small” and said that they were just moving on.
It wasn’t small at all.
Not only did it cost the Chiefs a crucial win against a potential playoff foe, but it also headlined the underlying issue of poor WR play that has hurt the team all year long, not to mention the fact that it exposed Patrick Mahomes’ frustration.
Toney is a talented player, but he has left a lot to be desired since entering the league.
On top of that, even if referees can guide players, they are under no obligation to tell a player where to line up and how to actually do their jobs.
Toney could’ve looked at the football or the wide receiver lining opposite him.
Referees are far from perfect and have cost teams wins over and over, but this wasn’t one of those cases.
