The Philadelphia Eagles have been very active during free agency.
After losing earlier than they hoped for in the 2023 playoffs, the Eagles hope to make themselves a contender again in 2024.
They have added a few key pieces to help them accomplish their goals, but they have also lost some players in the process, including Haason Reddick.
Reddick has moved on, but his old jersey number seven didn’t stay unoccupied for long.
As the NFL Jersey Numbers page on Twitter points out, Kenny Pickett will be wearing number seven, at least for the 2024 season.

Pickett joined the Eagles after a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers, a somewhat surprising move at the time.
The Steelers have also been active throughout free agency, adding two new quarterbacks, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, to their roster.
With these additions in mind, there wasn’t any room for Pickett on the roster, leaving the Steelers no choice but to move on from him.
Pickett’s career in Pittsburgh didn’t pan out as he or the team had hoped for, but the Eagles present a new opportunity for him to grow and develop as a young passer.
He might not have an opportunity to start in 2024 unless Jalen Hurts gets injured, but the Eagles’ coaching staff should be able to help him get to the next level.
This could be a stepping stone for Pickett to find his next job, as the Eagles are more than happy to equip him with the necessary skills to have a long, prosperous NFL career.
