Luckily for the Pittsburgh Steelers, quarterback Kenny Pickett did not incur a severe injury during their 2023 Week 4 game.
However, the damage he took from the fourth-down Jonathan Greenard sack was painful enough to have Mitchell Trubisky take over behind center.
Eventually, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that Pickett suffered a bone bruise during their 30-6 defeat to the Houston Texans.
But Pickett shared with media members that he’s ready to go on Sunday.
“Good. Good. Be ready to go by Sunday,” Pickett said, as posted by the Steelers’ official Twitter account.

However, the decision to play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5 doesn’t rest with Pickett.
His participation during this week’s practices will help determine if he’s fit to compete.
Yesterday, he was a limited participant during practice due to his knee injury.
Pickett’s status for Sunday could become bleak if he continues the same participation.
Their schedule could also play a factor in Tomlin’s decision regarding Pickett.
If they rest Pickett this week, their Week 6 bye gives him more time to recover.
In the meantime, Trubisky will call the plays against their division rivals if that scenario plays out.
Giving Pickett a longer time to rest can pay dividends as the season progresses.
After all, they still have 12 games left after their first clash with Baltimore this season.
Stepping back can also give Pickett the freedom to clear his mind after a disappointing outing.
Against the Texans, the former Pittsburgh Panther completed only 15 throws for 114 yards, zero touchdowns, and an interception.
