The Denver Broncos are officially about to enter the post-Russell Wilson era and continue their never-ending pursuit of a starting quarterback.
The former Super Bowl champion is soon to become a free agent, and he could sign with any team for as little as $1 million.
That’s why former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson believes he could be a match made in heaven in the nation’s capital.
Talking on Undisputed, Johnson stated that Dan Quinn is already familiar with Wilson from their days with the Seattle Seahawks.
And even if they were on different sides of the field and he didn’t know whether they had a relationship or not, he’d be a perfect fit.
Johnson argues that Wilson is tailor-made for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense, as he’s a slightly smaller quarterback who can extend plays, make plays with his feet, and get rid of the football very fast:
“He’s a starting quarterback in the National Football League,” Johnn said of Wilson. “Can Washington say, ‘I can do something with my No. 2 pick, build my roster?”

Per Johnson, going after Wilson for that reasonable salary would allow the Commanders to either consider trading the No. 2 pick if they don’t like any of the quarterbacks who could potentially be available or get a quarterback and allow him to develop and grow behind Wilson for one or two years.
He thinks this team could win by running the football, playing hardnosed defense, and allowing Wilson to do just enough to keep the chains in motion.
Of course, it’s hard to envision the Commanders passing on the opportunity to get a franchise player with the No. 2 pick, but we’ve seen crazier things happen in this league.
