The Washington Commanders are beginning a new era in 2024.
After getting a new owner this past season, the Commanders fired head coach Ron Rivera and needed a new voice in the locker room.
They decided to make former Dallas Cowboys DC Dan Quinn their new head coach.
Quinn comes to Washington as a defensive head coach who many would refer to as a “players’ coach.”
That means he needed to hire a strong offensive coordinator to lead the offense.
Quinn decided to hire former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury as his offensive coordinator.
He is a young coach who should be able to bring some innovative ideas to Washington.
According to Nicki Jhabvala, Kingsbury said: “Being able to just focus on the offense will be great. I’m ready to get to work.”
Kliff Kingsbury: “Being able to just focus on the offense will be great. Dan has a bunch on his plate. I’ve sat in that seat. … To be able to back up and do that again is exciting. I’m ready to get to work.”

Kingsbury has never been a coordinator in the NFL, as he went from college head coach to NFL head coach.
You can tell he is excited about just having to focus on the offense instead of the whole team.
But, there is no doubt Kingsbury will have his hands full this year.
He is coaching an offense that does not have a lot of talent.
But, it seems likely Kingsbury will get the opportunity to develop a rookie quarterback.
Washington has the second pick in the draft and will most likely target a new signal caller.
Kingsbury will play a big role in who the Commanders select with that second pick.
This new Commanders coaching staff and front office will have plenty of pressure to get this pick right.
The future of the franchise may certainly rest on the shoulders of whomever they pick in the draft.
