The NFL MVP race has gotten heated over the past several weeks.
Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott are the two favorites to win the award, which odds from major sportsbooks have backed.
While Purdy is viewed highly by many, Cam Newton recently called him a “game-manager.”
This has been met with varying degrees of scrutiny, with some former players backing him up and others questioning this take.
Kurt Warner is the latest former quarterback to speak out against Newton’s comments.
He engaged in the Twitter conversation, asking about the difference between game managers and game changers.
Ok I’ll bite, so what does a game changer look like? How many ways can you change a game? Is making MORE good decisions & making MORE accurate throws game-changing or game-managing? https://t.co/4cnNuhnBxJ

Woah: Cam Newton says Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa and Jared Goff are all game managers…
“These are game managers, they are not difference makers.”

In Warner’s mind, there are only so many ways that a player can completely change a game.
While he might agree that a few generational athletes have played quarterback, Warner seems to disagree with Newton’s philosophy completely.
In his mind, making good decisions and accurate throws is an NFL quarterback’s most important aspect.
Whether that is seen as a game-changing type of player or a game-managing type of player is undetermined.
This conversation has grown significantly over the past several days and doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
Regardless of what the conversation has been and what the definitions of game-changer or game-manager are, Purdy continues to rank among the NFL’s best at the position.
If Purdy wins league MVP at the end of the season, this conversation will likely be put to bed.
Kyle Shanahan system or not, taking home this award is viewed as an impressive accomplishment that isn’t taken lightly.
