The Detroit Lions have had a roller coaster of a season.
Dan Campbell’s team hit the ground running and looked like a legitimate Super Bowl contender at times, but they’ve kind of come back to Earth over the past month or so.
Even so, they’ve already surpassed most people’s expectations, especially considering some had serious doubts about their QB room.
Notably, Jared Goff has had some solid outings, putting an end to all doubts about whether Teddy Bridgewater could or should take his starting spot.
With that in mind, the veteran QB has reportedly told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press that he intends to retire at the end of the season.
“Teddy Bridgewater told me he plans to retire after the season and go coach high school football,” Birkett said via the Detroit Free Press.

Bridgewater is reportedly looking forward to coaching high school football.
It’s crazy to think that Bridgewater was on the verge of becoming a franchise quarterback and playing the best football of his career before a season-ending injury derailed his promising career.
It’s nice to see the former Louisville star looking to give back to the youth, spread his knowledge, and share his experience at such a crucial time in the players’ formative years.
Bridgewater was beloved and respected around the league, and it’s a shame to see that he was never able to fulfill his true potential.
Hopefully, he’ll get a chance to throw another pass or two before walking away from the game.
