Detroit Lions fans should be excited about the recent news that they received from GM Brad Holmes about quarterback Jared Goff’s possible contract extension.
Holmes recently appeared on “97.1 The Ticket” in Detroit to chat about his quarterback’s future.
“He’s earned an extension…It’s a high priority for us. Both sides are working really, really hard,” Holmes stated, via Around The NFL.

Thanks to Goff, the Lions are real Super Bowl contenders.
He went from being an afterthought that was traded from the eventual Super Bowl-winning Rams to becoming a true franchise quarterback.
Thanks to his attitude and play, he has brought Detroit back.
In 2023, the three-time Pro-Bowler led the Lions to their first 12-win season and NFC Championship Game appearance since 1991.
They won the NFC North for the first time ever and won their first playoff game since the 1991 Divisional Round.
Goff is, at minimum, one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC.
He finished second in the league in passing yards (4,575), second in completions (407), fifth in completion percentage among starters that played in 15+ games (67.3%), and fourth in touchdown passes (30).
Without him, the Lions would not at all be where they are today.
The former first overall pick was worth the trade from Los Angeles to the Motor City for both sides.
The Rams became Super Bowl winners and the Lions are on the cusp of glory.
With the cast of Pro Bowl skill players around him, such as receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, tight end Sam LaPorta, and running back Jahmyr Gibbs, the Lions should be in Super Bowl contention for a long, long time.
