After getting the best of the division-rival Minnesota Vikings in Week 18 in the team’s regular-season finale, the Detroit Lions were able to clinch the NFC North division title and host the Los Angeles Rams for the first round of the NFL playoffs.
Unfortunately for the Lions, the team saw one of their best offensive weapons this season go down against the Vikings, with rookie tight end Sam LaPorta suffering a knee injury, jeopardizing his status to play against the Rams on Sunday at Ford Field in Detroit.
The consensus was that LaPorta’s knee injury was serious enough to keep him out for this playoff game against the Rams and potentially the rest of the season, which would be a disappointing end to a brilliant rookie campaign.
Although all signs pointed to the Lions being without LaPorta for this first-round matchup with the Rams, it appears there’s hope that he might be able to play and help Jared Goff and company get a win in Detroit on Sunday.
According to the team’s injury report, which was posted on Twitter on Friday, LaPorta is listed as questionable for the game against the Rams.

If the Lions can get LaPorta back on the field and healthy enough to contribute on Sunday, Detroit will improve their chances of beating Sean McVay’s squad and advancing to the second round of the postseason.
During his first season with the Lions, LaPorta caught 86 passes for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns, which is a pretty impressive feat for a tight end in general, let alone a rookie.
