The NFL Draft is just around the corner, and no prospect has been more talked about than JJ McCarthy.
With Caleb Williams locked in as the No. 1 selection and the jury still out on Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye, scouts are now focusing their attention on the Michigan product.
McCarthy wasn’t the highest-touted prospect after the end of the college season, but he’s gained a lot of ground in the past couple of weeks.
Notably, former NFL player Louis Riddick recently stated that McCarthy is as good as any other quarterback, adding that he has shown that he can rise up to the occasion and deliver when it matters the most.
Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, Riddick pointed out that McCarthy’s numbers and QBR were as good as any other top prospects’.

He admitted that the sample size wasn’t particularly big, which is why he could understand why some people aren’t so sure about him just yet, but the mechanics and the intangibles are there to be looked at.
The Wolverines featured a run-heavy offense under Jim Harbaugh, so McCarthy was more of a game manager.
Then again, he delivered in third and long over and over, and he put his team on his shoulders almost every single time they needed him to do it.
At this point, it seems more like he didn’t throw often because of the system, and not because he couldn’t be trusted to make any kind of throw, and he’s now likely to be taken in the top five.
