Mac Jones is no longer the full-time starting quarterback for the New England Patriots, as he has been benched multiple times this season.
It has been a frustrating year for both him and his team, as it lost to the New York Giants, 10-7, on Sunday after Jones didn’t play in the second half.
Per Mike Kadlick, he was asked if he would prefer a fresh start, and he said he still wants to be the Patriots QB while saying he’s “good right now.”
Mac Jones on if he would prefer a fresh start amid the #Patriots 2-9 start (via @JonesandMego):
“I’m good right now. I really wanna be the quarterback here. I’ve always wanted to be a quarterback in the NFL, and specifically for the #Patriots.”

New England is now 2-9 on the season, and they haven’t had to deal with a season as miserable as this one in decades, as they have gotten very used to winning since the early 2000s.
While head coach Bill Belichick is one of the NFL’s greatest ever, he may be getting exposed somewhat now in his third season without the legendary Tom Brady under center.
He has been unable to unlock Jones’ potential, and after Jones showed some potential as a rookie in 2021, it is now becoming clear the signal-caller isn’t the solution for the team.
Jones went 12 of 21 for 89 yards, two interceptions, and zero touchdowns and had an embarrassing 27.8 passer rating in his stint against New York on Sunday.
Bailey Zappe relieved him in the second half, but he wasn’t much better, as he completed nine of 14 pass attempts and threw an interception of his own while failing to connect on any touchdown passes.
The Patriots now rank 26th in passing touchdowns and 31st in points per game on the season.
