The NFL Draft is less than a month away, leaving teams limited time to make their final decisions.
This is a time of year when the rumor mill flows at an all-time high.
Stories tend to surface in the weeks before the draft, and unfortunately, if teams believe them, they can affect a player’s draft stock.
Malik Nabers, a top wide receiver prospect in this year’s class, is the latest player to receive criticism due to stories about him being “high maintenance” and a poor teammate with off-field issues.
Dov Kleiman shared a recent conversation with Preston Guy on Instagram Live in which he addressed these claims.
Nabers said, “You know they just gotta pick somebody in this draft. I guess they just pick me.”

Nabers seems to understand this cycle, and while he doesn’t necessarily like that his name is involved in rumors, he realizes this is a part of the process.
In a way, Nabers can see this as a positive, given he is a highly-regarded player, and that people feel the need to make things up about him.
A similar thing happened to Ja’Marr Chase ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he was able to rise above the noise, and the Cincinnati Bengals saw through all of the media reports.
At the end of the day, Chase was a talented prospect on the field, which is what teams care the most about.
Nabers is said to have a similar impact in the NFL, and unless more substantial claims come to light, he’ll likely get drafted early in the first round.
