The Pittsburgh Steelers have given themselves an interesting quarterback situation for the 2024 season.
They went and signed future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson after his failed stint with the Denver Broncos, but just when it seemed as if they had solved their QB problems, they made another move.
Pittsburgh also traded for Justin Fields, which is now making some wonder if Fields could be poised to become their starter if Wilson struggles enough.
Former NFL QB Mark Sanchez said on Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” that this setup could pose problems for the iconic franchise.
“When you have two forces in one quarterback room, you almost have none. … There can only be one quarterback. Everything in the organization has to be seen through the eyes of the starting QB,” Sanchez said.

Wilson was traded to Denver two years ago after 10 outstanding seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, and he played very poorly during his first season with the Broncos.
Last year, he put up solid numbers, but he still wasn’t quite his old self, and new head coach Sean Payton perhaps wasn’t thrilled with him.
Wilson is 35 years of age, and one has to wonder how much he has left in the tank, which makes one also wonder how possible it is that Fields takes his starting spot away from him at some point.
Fields, the No. 11 pick in the 2021 draft, hasn’t lived up to expectations, and he has shown that he is a weak passer after completing just 60.3 percent of his pass attempts in his first three years.
While some still feel he could be a solid QB in the right situation, others have realized he simply isn’t capable enough of doing so, which is one reason why the Bears moved on from him.
