After another mediocre season in which the Pittsburgh Steelers made the NFL playoffs but predictably lost in the first round, the storied franchise has decided to make some changes during the offseason, especially at the quarterback position.
The team’s No. 1 order for business heading into the offseason after giving longtime head coach Mike Tomlin a vote of confidence was addressing the quarterback position, as the team agreed to a deal with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, formerly of the Denver Broncos.
With Wilson now the perceived starter under center in Pittsburgh next season, the team will likely have Kenny Pickett as the backup to learn behind the one-time Super Bowl champion, which has forced Mason Rudolph to explore other options in NFL free agency.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Rudolph has agreed to a short-term deal with the Tennessee Titans to be the backup quarterback behind Will Levis, presumably.

With there being no chance to see the field in Pittsburgh with Wilson and Pickett ahead of him, Rudolph likely made the smart move here by backing up a player who will be in his second year in the NFL and still needing to prove himself.
Along with having a better chance to see some playing time in Tennessee, the Titans recently made another big move to upgrade the offense, with the team adding star wide receiver Calvin Ridley to play alongside DeAndre Hopkins, which is an impressive duo.
Only time will tell if Levis can hack it as the starter, but if he can’t or struggles, Rudolph will likely get his chance to shine in Tennessee.
