The Chicago Bears are slated to look a lot different in 2024 than they did in 2023.
One of the most obvious changes is at the quarterback position, as the team traded away Justin Fields in the offseason.
The Fields trade was not a surprise, especially since the Bears hold the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft.
With this in mind, the Bears seem extra motivated to build a team around their top draft pick, which is presumed to be a quarterback.
Matt Eberflus recently commented on what the team is looking for in a recent conversation with Larry Mayer shared via Sky Kruse on Twitter.
Eberflus said, “He’d like the Bears to add a pass rusher to team with defensive end Montez Sweat.”
“Eberflus told reporters last week at the NFL owners meetings that he’d like the #Bears to add a pass rusher to team with defensive end Montez Sweat.”

The Bears traded for Sweat in the middle of the 2023 season, and nearly immediately extended him to a long-term deal.
He’s not going anywhere, and if they can sign another dynamite defensive player along Sweat, this could turn into one of the defensive fronts in the league.
Of course, for this to happen, the Bears would need to either find a willing trade partner or scour the free-agent market, hoping to find a diamond in the rough.
All of the blue-chip players have seemingly been scooped up, which will make it difficult for them to acquire a top-tier free agent.
The Bears have struggled to break through in the NFC North over the past decade, largely due to the success of the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers.
Will 2024 be the year they turn things around?
