The New York Jets‘ 2023 NFL season might have ended before it truly began as Aaron Rodgers was lost for the year after tearing his Achilles on the team’s opening drive.
There was a lot of hype and excitement for the Jets heading into the season as the roster looked like it was just a quarterback away from really competing for a Super Bowl.
All the reports coming out of training camp were that Rodgers looked great and was clicking with the offense.
However, the dream of having the future Hall of Famer lead the team might have to wait until next season as he begins the arduous rehab process.
As soon as the news broke that Rodgers had torn his Achilles, the NFL world offered words of support and encouragement.
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur knows Rodgers well during their time together and he revealed that he reached out to his former quarterback via The Rich Eisen Show.

LaFleur said he wished Rodgers a speedy recovery and noted that he already seems to be healing very quickly despite it only being a few weeks since the injury occurred.
Rodgers made the quick decision to get surgery right away and he has even floated the idea of returning later this season if the Jets are somehow able to make the playoffs.
That seems like a stretch given the nature of his injury, but there is precedent for players returning to play sooner than expected.
However, until then Rodgers will be working hard behind the scenes to get healthy.
