The Texas Rangers are hoping they can play better baseball with the series shifting to Arizona.
The series is tied 1-1, but the Rangers have gotten outplayed in both games.
It took a ninth-inning home run to keep their hopes alive in Game 1, then they got blown out in Game 2.
Now with Game 3 set for Monday night, the Rangers are sending their most experienced pitcher to the mound.
Max Scherzer will make his return to the mound in a World Series game.
He last pitched in the World Series in 2019 with the Washington Nationals.
Now Scherzer is set to make history when he starts on Monday.
According to Sarah Langs, Scherzer will be the eighth pitcher to start a World Series game with three different franchises.
Max Scherzer will be the 8th pitcher to start a World Series game with 3 franchises, joining:
John Lackey
Roger Clemens
Danny Jackson
Charlie Morton
Jack Morris
Bullet Joe Bush
Curt Schilling— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) October 30, 2023
Scherzer is hoping to have much more success in the World Series than his past two postseason starts.
He started two games in the ALCS and proceeded to give up seven earned runs over 6.2 total innings.
Now at the age of 38, Scherzer seems to be a shell of his former self.
Even so, the Rangers are hoping he can turn back the clock and have one more dominant start.
Scherzer has achieved almost everything you can hope for in a career.
He has won three Cy Young awards and won the aforementioned 2019 World Series with Washington.
But, if he can win another ring with an American League team that would take his career up a notch.
Scherzer is hoping to find himself on a shortlist of names that have 3+ Cy Youngs and 2+ World Championships.
