There might not be a hotter team in MLB than the New York Mets.
They have won their last four games, against teams that have fared well like the Kansas City Royals and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
They are also winners of six of their last seven and 10 of their last 13.
That’s why seasons are so long and patience is always required: the Mets had started off the 2024 campaign with five straight losses, and the most impatient fans were already panicking.
But the Mets have worked hard to put a competitive roster on the field despite injuries and recent trades, and their player development team has worked wonders with some specific areas of the team.
One of them is the bullpen: previously unheralded arms have been thriving in 2024.
The group has been so good that it leads the National League in ERA.
“Díaz. Raley. Ottavino. Smith. López. Garrett. Diekman. The Mets’ main group of bullpen arms have been excellent this season, leading the National League in bullpen ERA,” SNY Mets tweeted.

After missing the entire 2023 campaign, Edwin Diaz has already thrown seven innings of a 1.29 ERA, with 10 strikeouts.
He is back to his old self.
Additionally, Reed Garrett and Brooks Raley both have a perfect 0.00 ERA, and other top guys like Drew Smith (1.08 ERA), Jorge Lopez (1.93 ERA), and Adam Ottavino (2.57 ERA) have been magnificent.
The Mets have done wonders with their pitching, and top starter Kodai Senga still hasn’t thrown a single pitch in 2024 due to injury.
Things are looking up for the Mets, as teams with a solid bullpen are often good October performers.
Will they beat the odds and get there?
