The New York Mets are entering the 2024 campaign with moderate expectations and a solid roster.
The team lacks star power in the pitching staff, but packs some serious power when it comes to the lineup.
They announced their lineup for the last game of spring training, and it’s pretty much what we will see on Opening Day.
“Take 2 on this: Today’s final spring lineup could certainly be the one the Mets use on Opening Day: Nimmo LF, Lindor SS, Alonso 1B, McNeil 2B, Marte RF, Stewart DH, Alvarez C, Baty 3B, Bader CF,” Mets insider Anthony DiComo tweeted.

As stated, the rotation will hardly be a top-five unit, but this offense might.
And, remember, it will eventually have designated hitter J.D. Martinez ready to go.
Brandon Nimmo makes for a very solid leadoff hitter, and Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso are both elite at what they do: all-around play and power hitting, respectively.
Jeff McNeil and Starling Marte are wild cards, but both have been dominant hitters not so long ago and the latter is finally healthy.
Francisco Alvarez and Brett Baty are two young, up-and-coming stars and should be able to show more consistency this year.
Overall, this offense has a solid floor and a very high ceiling if some best-case scenarios present themselves.
Additionally, the Mets have a much-improved farm system and can either call guys up to help or use them as trade assets to lure a young star or two.
They are in very good shape for the start of the season, and could potentially surprise a few people.
