The New York Mets will have a much different vibe surrounding their team in 2024.
That happens when significant changes are made to an organization.
They brought in first-time manager Carlos Mendoza to take over the team.
So far, the early returns of Mendoza have been nothing but positive.
According to Andy Martino via SNY Mets, Mendoza is setting a “lively, inclusive culture” at Mets camp.
Carlos Mendoza is setting a “lively, inclusive culture” at Mets camp, taking time to engage with players at all levels of the organization, says @martinonyc:
“One morning, as I was walking into the clubhouse for media access at 8 a.m., Mendoza was visible in the food room… pic.twitter.com/KOf2BBYFet

One quote that best explains Mendoza’s presence is as follows, per Martino.
“He was a kinetic presence – laughing, backslapping, joking in both English and Spanish. He looked like a person who was exactly where he belonged.”
Being able to connect with all the players is very important.
There are Spanish-speaking and English-speaking players on any given team.
So having a manager who is fluent in both is a significant benefit.
Last season, many people could tell the Mets’ culture went stale.
That led to an underachieving season with only 75 wins.
But, things look more optimistic around the team this year.
Another reason why the Mets should be better in 2024 is because they will bring back Edwin Diaz.
He was the best closer in baseball in 2022 before suffering a major knee injury in the World Baseball Classic in 2023.
But, Diaz is expected to be back to full strength for Opening Day.
That should help the Mets win many close games that they lost last season.
Playing in the NL East will be a tough task, but the Mets have a chance to be a playoff team in the NL.
