The New York Mets were one of the most disappointing teams in baseball this season.
They went from winning 101 games to 74 and failing to make the postseason.
Seeing that unfold showed the Mets front office that some changes needed to be made.
One of the first moves they made was moving on from manager Buck Showalter.
It was a mutual split between the Mets and Showalter who knew it was in the best interest of both to part ways.
But, that does not mean the Mets put all the blame for their season on Showalter.
Mets owner Steve Cohen talked to the media about the decision to part ways with Showalter.
According to SNY, Cohen said: “This is not a reflection of Buck. Buck did everything we wanted him to do…it’s not Buck’s fault.”
Steve Cohen shares how the decision to part ways with Buck Showalter came about:
“This is not a reflection on Buck. Buck did everything we wanted him to do. Obviously this season was a disappointment, but it’s not Buck’s fault. It spread across the organization.” pic.twitter.com/YteTQGuL5J

It is always a tough situation when someone loses their job.
But, the Mets had to make some type of change.
They are too big of a market and have too high of expectations to not compete for a World Series each year.
Even though the Mets had a highly flawed roster, they did what they could this season.
It will be interesting to see which way they go for their next manager.
They could look for someone with plenty of experience and success on his resume.
Or try and find a first-time manager who can lead the team differently.
Whoever their next manager is, they must understand the pressure of managing a team in New York.
The expectations are not the same in every city.
But, in New York, if you do not win the fans and media will not be patient.
