The New York Mets are 0-3 to open the 2024 MLB season.
Not many things have gone their way in the first few games, and the bad news keeps coming.
After making a start on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers, Tylor Megill reported soreness in his shoulder.
He has been diagnosed with a right shoulder strain, and has been placed on the injured list.
“News: The Mets have placed Tylor Megill on the injured list with a right shoulder strain. Reliever Reed Garrett is up as the temporary roster replacement,” Mets insider Anthony DiComo tweeted.

Megill was actually solid on Sunday, allowing a couple of runs (one earned) in four innings of work.
He conceded three hits and walked three, striking out four Brewers.
He will now be out of action for a while.
The Mets still haven’t outlined a plan for his recovery, but shoulder strains usually require a few weeks on the shelf.
Megill had completed a solid spring training, with a 3.92 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 20.2 innings.
He seemed poised for a solid season in the Mets rotation, at least until Kodai Senga returned from his own injury.
Those plans are no longer in place, for obvious reasons.
Injuries are starting to affect the Mets in the early going, but their vaunted offense is also to blame for the opening weekend sweep at the hands of the Brewers.
It’s still very early, so things can obviously change in a hurry.
For now, however, the Mets are in an uncomfortable position with another pitching injury early in the season.
