The NFL has turned into a league that revolves around it’s star players.
This is similar to how the NBA has operated for years, as fans tend to gravitate more toward individual players than an actual team.
Sure, there is still an affinity to one’s hometown or favorite team, but players have become the face of the organization.
While this increase in individual player popularity is good for the league, it can also make contract negotiations difficult.
If a particular player is well-liked and also thought of as one of the best players at their position, their asking price can only go up.
This has been put on full-display in recent seasons, and it seemed to be playing out for Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys.
Parsons didn’t attend the first part of the Cowboys’ OTAs, which made fans believe he was sitting out, hoping for a new contract.
Even though he hasn’t gotten the expected extension, as Jane Slater reported via Around The NFL, Parsons is slated to be back with the team next week.

This is great news for Cowboys fans, who have been itching to see Parsons compete in practice.
There has been some confusion about the Cowboys’ inability to get a deal done to this point, especially considering Parsons is one of the best defenders in the league.
However, the Cowboys do employ several impactful players on their roster, and with a lot of mouths to feed and checks to be cashed, Parsons might just have to wait his turn.
