Michael Penix Jr. is one of the most debated quarterback prospects in the 2024 draft class.
Some analysts and fans view him as a bonafide first-round pick, while others have gotten cold about him, projecting him as a late second or an early third-round pick.
One of the biggest concerns with Penix is his injury history and the fact that he’ll be 24 years old when the 2024 season begins.
Amid these conversations, Penix has been meeting with prospective teams, who are trying to determine what they would like to do for themselves.
One of his meetings was with the Denver Broncos, an interaction he called “different than the others” in a conversation with reporter Jeff Legwold.
Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. said at combine Friday his meeting with Broncos was “different then the others” he’s had in Indianapolis. Said Broncos asked “tough questions” and “brought up a lot of bad plays … maybe to see how I would react.”

Penix said that the Broncos ask “tough questions” and indicated they “brought up a lot of bad plays maybe to see how I would react.”
This experience differs significantly from fellow QB prospect J.J. McCarthy, who said nothing but good things about the Broncos after interviewing with them.
The Broncos are at least entertaining the possibility of drafting a rookie quarterback, which would likely boot Russell Wilson from his post as their starter.
Wilson was supposed to be the quarterback to bring the Broncos out of their rut, but after two less-than-ideal years, the Broncos might be looking elsewhere.
Whether Penix, McCarthy, or another prospect is their best option remains to be seen.
With less than two months until the draft unfolds, teams are running out of time to make the best decision for the future of their franchise.
