There has been plenty of talk about Bill Belichick potentially leaving the New England Patriots.
Team owner Robert Kraft had hinted at potentially making a move if the team didn’t improve, and it’s more than evident that they didn’t improve at all.
However, despite their major struggles, the team reportedly recently signed Bill Belichick to a contract extension.
With that in mind, NFL insider Mike Florio reports that someone close to Belichick leaked that information to put an end to all the talks about his potential departure (via Pardon My Take).

More than that, he believes the only reason the Patriots signed him to a new contract was so they could trade him in the offseason.
Florio predicts that Belichick won’t be in New England next season, but with multiple teams — such as the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders, among others — reportedly interested in his services, they’re gonna have to give up something to get him.
The insider adds that it could be a matter of time before the Patriots, the team that wants him, and Belichick start sorting out the details of a new contract, and while we won’t hear anything about that until it happens, it’s definitely going to happen.
Belichick has earned the benefit of the doubt, and he should have an opportunity to break Don Shula’s record at some point in the future.
But this is a ruthless business, and it seems like his days as a Patriot are numbered after his failures in the post-Tom Brady era.
