The Pittsburgh Steelers had already secured a quarterback for the present.
Now, they may have found themselves one for the future as well.
They traded a conditional sixth-round pick in return for a former first-round pick at quarterback, and Justin Fields will now have a legitimate chance to compete for a starting spot.
That’s why sports analyst Mike Greenberg took to Twitter to share his thoughts on this transaction, stating that this was the perfect landing spot for him, and that things couldn’t have gone better for him.
“Have said all along – THIS was best landing spot. It took a while but this could NOT have worked out better for Justin Fields,” Greenberg said.

Truth be told, he’s right on point.
The Steelers were the odds-on favorites to acquire his services for a long time, and it just made sense.
Fields has never played behind a solid offensive line or had a decent set of skill players.
He’ll now get just that, plus a new offensive coordinator that will help him start from scratch.
The Steelers are expected to favor Russell Wilson over him in this year’s quarterback competition, but that doesn’t mean it’s all said and done, not by a mile.
Wilson will have to work to get the spot just like everybody else, and if being traded for a sixth-round pick doesn’t motivate him to be at his best, then nothing will.
On the surface, he’s just what the Steelers needed, especially with a guy like Arthur Smith calling the shots.
On the flip side, they were also just what he needed, a winning organization with patience and one of the best head coaches in the game.
