The Dallas Cowboys enter the season with more questions than answers.
Despite vowing to go “all-in,” Jerry Jones didn’t make any big signings or even manage to extend his star players.
Of course, that puts Dak Prescott in a tough spot, as he’s now going to play the upcoming season on the final year of his contract before hitting free agency.
Recently, Prescott claimed that he wasn’t afraid of this situation and that he knew he would land on his feet regardless, whether that was with the Cowboys or somewhere else.
However, when asked about that situation, HC Mike McCarthy quickly dismissed the concerns by stating that it was “the first time he even heard of that,” adding that Prescott does a great job of keeping the main thing the main thing and just focusing on football, per the team’s YouTube channel.
Prescott signed a four-year contract worth $160 million in 2021, and while it looked like he was getting overpaid, his deal is now a bargain.
The Cowboys would be better off signing him to a contract extension, but Jones has rarely done things the way other teams do, even if that means having to pay more by playing the waiting game.
Some speculate that he might not be that sold on Prescott anymore, which is why he didn’t make any big-time moves on offense this offseason.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
