One of the big developments of the Miami Dolphins’ offseason was star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s weight loss.
The former national champion lost 10-15 pounds and has certainly made an impression on players and coaches alike.
Head coach Mike McDaniel recently spoke with the Miami media about the thought process surrounding Tagovailoa’s weight loss.
“His strength increased but he felt like he could have the same amount of strength, reshape his body and be a little lighter on his feet,” McDaniel stated, via FinsXtra.

With a stronger and more limber quarterback under center, the Dolphins should be able to kick it up a notch offensively.
Dolphins fans know their quarterback is talented and productive.
After all, he has led the league in passer rating (2022) and passing yards (2023) in separate seasons.
He is coming off of a career year in terms of passing yards (4,624), touchdown passes (29), and completion percentage (69.3%).
The Dolphins have made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons and jumped from 9 wins in 2022 to 11 wins in 2023.
With the splash signing of former three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Miami looks like it has all the pieces to go.
They have one of the best wide receiver duos in future Hall-of-Famer Tyreek Hill and 1,000-yard pass-catcher Jaylen Waddle.
The addition of Beckham will be huge as well.
Pro Bowl running back Raheem Mostert is coming off of his first 1,000-yard season, and second-year back De’Von Achane is a rising star too.
With a stronger and tougher Tua, Miami should be real Super Bowl contenders this year.
