After seven seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, the franchise recently decided to make veteran wide receiver Mike Williams one of the team’s salary cap casualties by releasing him and making him an unrestricted free agent.
Although Williams is coming off a disappointing season that ended in injury after only three games played, there’s no doubting his talent, as he can be a force to be reckoned with when on the field and healthy.
Despite not being selected to the Pro Bowl during his stint with the Chargers, he still put up some solid numbers over the last seven years, with his best season coming in 2021 when he caught 76 passes for 1,146 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
With Williams still a player who can be a game-changer at wide receiver on the football field, many believed he would be a hot commodity on the free-agent market, and that he was.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the New York Jets have taken a flyer on Williams and agreed to sign the former Chargers wideout.

With superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers expected to make a full recovery from his season-ending Achilles injury, the Jets have done everything within their power to add weapons around the four-time NFL MVP for the 2024 campaign, with Williams being the latest addition.
Along with adding Williams to the receiving corps, the Jets have also added three offensive linemen, including Tyron Smith, and seem determined to get this offense back on track in preparation for next season in New York.
