For the second time in as many weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers couldn’t get the job done vs. a lesser opponent.
Losing at home to the 2-10 New England Patriots should be unacceptable for a playoff-hopeful team, especially for such a historied franchise like the Pittsburgh Steelers.
That’s why, following the loss, team star Minkah Fitzpatrick didn’t mince his words about some of his teammates.
Talking to Brooke Pryor of ESPN, the star defenseman stated that some of the players think that they’re just going to win football games because they’re wearing the black and gold, adding that the team needs to look at their mentality and their effort.
More Minkah Fitzpatrick: “I think that dudes just think that because they’re wearing the black and gold, that they’re going to win games, and I think we need to check that mentality and make people realize that they got to earn that mentality.” https://t.co/QMoIlNa0k8

The Steelers have gone through the motions way too many times already this season, and that’s far from the Mike Tomlin way.
Tomlin’s blueprint on the team was an unmatched effort, making up for their lack of talent with grit, physicality, grind, and a determination to leave it all on the gridiron.
Needless to say, we haven’t seen much of that throughout the course of the season, and especially as of late.
Granted, it’s hard to win football games with Mitch Trubisky at quarterback, especially with a new offensive coordinator and a new play-caller, and the Patriots also deserve a lot of credit for the energy they put on both sides of the field.
But the Steelers are crumbling when it matters the most, and they cannot afford to keep stacking up losses, especially against teams they were supposed to beat relatively easily.
