The Miami Marlins did something this season that not many people expected.
From the outside looking in, making the postseason was not a thought for Miami.
They were still in the middle of a rebuild and did not look like a roster that could hold up over a full season.
But, they proved a lot of people wrong.
Someone who deserves plenty of credit for the Marlins’ success is GM Kim Ng.
She was the first female GM in the four main professional sports.
But, now she is looking for an opportunity elsewhere.
The Marlins and Ng decided to mutually part ways even after their successful season.
According to Jeff Passan, the Marlins wanted to hire a president of baseball operations over Ng.
It was clear she had no interest in being the number two in their hierarchy.
The Miami Marlins wanted to hire a president of baseball operations over general manager Kim Ng, leading to her departure from the organization, sources told ESPN.
When reached, Ng declined comment. But sources said she would’ve been the No. 2 after constructing a playoff team.

With how Ng has helped turn this franchise around, it is clear Miami will miss her.
It was a mistake for them to try and put someone above her after all the success she had in calling the shots.
Now the Marlins are down a GM and would be lucky to find someone as good as Ng.
There is no question plenty of other clubs will be interested in hiring her.
It is hard to build a contending team without spending loads of money.
Yet, Ng was able to do that thanks to a few key trades and under-the-radar moves.
This is a setback for the Marlins, but one they brought on themselves.
