Not only did the Los Angeles Chargers get beaten down by the Denver Broncos in Week 14, but they suffered a huge loss when they announced Justin Herbert would miss the remainder of the 2023 NFL season after undergoing surgery on his finger.
The Chargers offense has taken big hits over the year, but losing Herbert is the icing on the cake.
Los Angeles is going to have some major changes in the offseason after another dispiriting year, and the franchise is hoping for better injury luck in 2024.
The Chargers don’t even get much time to process all the bad news as they have to take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football.
Getting the start for Herbert will be backup Easton Stick who replaced him against the Broncos.
Stick was a productive quarterback in college and is confident he can get the job done against the Raiders via Kris Rhim of ESPN.
“I understand North Dakota State isn’t the National Football League but I’m used to winning,” Stick said.

Stick doesn’t lack for any confidence which is good to hear considering he’s being thrust into the starting job presumably for the rest of the season.
Against Denver, Stick made some decent throws but was largely overwhelmed trying to deal with the pass rush.
Las Vegas offers similar problems as their defensive line just held the Minnesota Vikings to three points, and Stick won’t have Keenan Allen as an outlet as he was ruled out for the game.
The odds are stacked against Stick, though at this point there isn’t much left for Los Angeles to lose.
