The New York Mets are starting a new chapter this year.
The organization looks very different from the one that missed the postseason in 2023.
There is a new baseball leadership in town, for starters: David Stearns is now the president of baseball operations and Billy Eppler, the former general manager, is no longer with the team.
There were also many changes in the front office, and new faces appear in the dugout, too.
Carlos Mendoza is one of them: he was hired to replace Buck Showalter as the manager, and now has his first shot at leading an MLB squad.
His first game in charge, which was supposed to be on Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field, was postponed and moved to Friday.
As a first-year manager, it will be a new world for Mendoza.
There is one thing in particular, however, he is looking forward the most.
“Asked this morning if there’s one thing he’s most looking forward to on his first Opening Day as a Major League manager, Carlos Mendoza replied: ‘Honestly? The trumpets,’” Mets insider Anthony DiComo tweeted.

Fans at Citi Field, every time closer Edwin Diaz enters a close game with the chance to earn a save, enjoy a cool show.
The stadium plays “Narco,” a song by Blasterjaxx and Timmy Trumpet.
The trumpets in the song are extremely catchy, and it has become Diaz’s official entrance song for a couple of years now.
It has become famous in many circles, and the Mets even had Timmy Trumpet himself play live in late 2022.
There were no trumpets last year, as Diaz suffered a season-ending knee injury in March.
He is healthy now, though, and ready to protect leads and entertain the crowd with his exciting entrance song.
