During his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, star running back Joe Mixon was incredibly productive, as only two out of the seven seasons he played with the team saw him not reach 1,000 yards or more from scrimmage and at least four touchdowns scored.
Although Mixon didn’t put up eye-popping numbers with the Bengals, he was still a pivotal part of the team’s offense and a key piece of the offensive puzzle along with superstar quarterback Joe Burrow and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
After seven seasons with the team and a somewhat rocky relationship with the Bengals franchise, the team traded him to the Houston Texans after it was reported that they would release him, which came as a surprise to everyone, especially the veteran back.
During his introductory press conference with the Texans, Mixon was asked about his reaction to being traded to Houston, and he admitted with a laugh that it was definitely a shock, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
“It was definitely a shocker,” Mixon said. “I can just say that. It was definitely a shocker.”

Ahead of NFL free agency getting underway this week, the Texans were thought to be on the verge of signing former New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley, who seemed determined to change teams in order to give himself a better chance to win a Super Bowl.
The addition of Barkley would’ve been a game-changer for Houston, but he ultimately shocked everyone by deciding to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles instead.
With Barkley pivoting at the last moment, the Texans jumped at the opportunity to bring in Mixon, which could be a move that pays off immediately.
