The NFL has come down hard on players who break their gambling policy, and that has been a big subject of debate for quite a while now.
For starters, the league has now partnered with sportsbooks and even has a team in Las Vegas, so some players believe they have become kind of hypocritical.
Unsurprisingly, a report by Bill King of Sports Business Journal revealed that multiple players would rather the league take a different stance on that matter (via ProFootballTalk):
“I feel like the rules are outdated,” Falcons defensive end Calais Campbell told King. “There was a time where it made sense, but now with technology and being able to bet on baseball or basketball on your phone, I don’t understand why just because I’m in a locker room or on a Wednesday or whatever, that I can’t pick up my phone and [bet].

Simply put, the players don’t understand why they’re not allowed to bet on other sports while at the team facility if they’re not putting the integrity of the game of football at risk.
There should be no conflict of interest when they gamble on, say, basketball or baseball.
On top of that, the fact that they’re allowed to do so during the NFL offseason or on their own time makes it all the more confusing.
Perhaps it would make more sense for the league to ban them from betting on sports as a whole.
