The 2024 NFL Draft projects to be one of the best in recent memory as it contains several franchise quarterbacks and plenty of depth at the wide receiver and offensive lineman positions.
The top of the draft features quarterbacks like Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels, three prospects that are expected to go in the top-five in some order.
Although Williams, Maye, and Daniels are highly coveted, the next tier of signal callers is also intriguing.
Players like Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix are older and less flashy, but have proven production at the collegiate level and could be Day 1 starters on the right team.
However, the most intriguing quarterback to watch out for is J.J. McCarthy who is coming off a college football national title with Michigan.
McCarthy’s draft stock has been rising and Matt Miller of ESPN believes his upside is that of a superstar in the right system.
“JJ McCarthy would be Joe Burrow if he were on a team that threw the ball,” Miller claimed.

McCarthy has won at every level throughout his young career and has some useful tools that teams could make good use of.
The Wolverines were a run-first offense that allowed McCarthy to manage games more often than not, but he can make throws both in and out of structure when needed.
At the professional level, McCarthy might need a year or two to develop behind the scenes but he has the talent to be a starter someday.
It’ll be interesting to see where McCarthy ends up as he’s considered the wild card in the group of quarterbacks.
