Coming off their bye week, the San Francisco 49ers reestablished themselves as a Super Bowl contender as they absolutely dominated the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.
The 49ers looked like the team that reeled off five consecutive wins at the start of the 2023 NFL season as they got after Trevor Lawrence and offensively tore up the Jaguars’ defense through the air and ground.
Brock Purdy benefited from having his full assortment of weapons back on the field as he had Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey all healthy.
Purdy’s hot streak came cratering back down to earth when Samuel went out, but he looked much more comfortable knowing he had another reliable option in the passing game.
It’s hard to distinguish whether Purdy is this talented or if he’s a product of Kyle Shanahan’s quarterback-friendly offensive scheme.
Nick Wright isn’t buying Purdy just yet and went so as far to say that the 49ers would be a Super Bowl contender if they had a different signal caller via First Things First.
“The 49ers would be a more viable Super Bowl contender with Baker Mayfield. The Bucs would be in Caleb Williams sweepstakes with Brock Purdy,” Wright said.

Baker Mayfield is having a bounceback-type of season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he’s looked more like his old self than he has in recent years.
Mayfield’s got great chemistry with his receiving corps, and although their record isn’t very great they’re still a competitive team every week.
It’s hard to definitively say San Francisco would be better off with Mayfield, so Purdy will just have to continue to produce wins in order to prove his worth.
