After taking University of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in last month’s NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have generated the type of excitement they haven’t enjoyed in decades.
Williams is someone who many feel can become a superstar player at the next level, and he will immediately have some primetime skill players around him, including Rome Odunze, the No. 9 overall pick who has star potential.
But Nick Wright went above and beyond merely expecting Williams to be great when he said on FS1’s “First Things First” that the incoming rookie could lead the Bears to a Super Bowl appearance this season, per Harrison Graham.

Wright mentioned how a number of great quarterbacks, both past and present, greatly elevated their teams in their first season, but he mentioned one thing that will be an advantage for Chicago: their schedule.
They will not face any opponents in their own division until Week 11, and until then, they will play a number of teams that could be inferior to them, at least on paper.
On the other hand, the NFC North should be a brutal division in 2024, and the Green Bay Packers are expected by most to improve, while the Minnesota Vikings could take a step forward if QB J.J. McCarthy turns out to be good.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions, who went 12-5 and finished first in the division last season, don’t look like they will get weaker any time soon.
At the very least, long-suffering Bears fans should have a team they can be proud of and enjoy watching on a regular basis, even if it doesn’t make the playoffs this coming season.
