Former NBA player turned analyst Austin Rivers recently made a bold claim that he could name 30 players in the league today that could make the transition to the NFL, which sparked quite a debate, especially after former Houston Texans superstar J.J. Watt responded to the claim.
With the NBA being filled with versatile athletes, Rivers’ claim wasn’t all that bold, but it did spark enough debate for some to run with it and see which players in the league today might be successful in the NFL playing an entirely different sport.
According to Nick Wright of FOX Sports, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves could play running back or safety in the NFL, and he’s certain of that stance.
Wright also believes that a young LeBron James would be the greatest tight end in NFL history, and he also believes Russell Westbrook and Josh Hart could play in the NFL, via The Volume.
“Young LeBron would be the greatest tight end in NFL history,” Wright said.

Although James was a football star at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and may very well been able to go on to have an NFL career, saying that he’d be the best tight end in league history is a pretty bold statement.
It’s a bit disrespectful to Travis Kelce, Rob Gronkowski, Tony Gonzalez, and Antonio Gates to make this statement, as there’s no telling what James could do on the NFL level, let alone be the greatest player ever at a position like tight end.
