It seemed impossible by Week 6, but the Los Angeles Rams are officially a playoff team.
Not only that, but they’ve also been one of the hottest teams in the league since the second half of the season, riding very impressive momentum ahead of the postseason.
They’ve become the true definition of a dark horse, and some believe they’re the biggest threat to the San Francisco 49ers this season.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Nick Wright believes they should be favored ahead of Sunday night’s clash with the Detroit Lions.
Talking on First Things First, Wright made a case for the Rams having the better coach, the better quarterback, and the better defense, and it’s definitely tough to argue with that assessment.
“One team has the better coach, the better QB, and the better defense. What are we talking about? The Rams are clearly the better team.”

Granted, the Lions have been very solid, but the Rams might have better — or at least more proven — weapons, and they’ve been as good on the road as they have been at home.
Wright pointed out the fact that ever since Matthew Stafford came back from his injury in Week 10, they’ve gone 7-1, with their only loss coming in overtime to the league-best Baltimore Ravens.
That 7-1 record is the best in the league during that span, and they also rank second in total yards per game (385.6), fourth in points per game (28.3), and sixth in PPG differential (+6.6), all while Matthew Stafford ranks sixth in passer rating (104.5).
The Lions are three-point favorites ahead of this game, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see that number get shorter by the time of kickoff.
