The Giants gave up the 7th-most points in the NFL last season but led the league in takeaways, and after losing some vital members of the defense in free agency, they’ll need to find a couple of replacements in the draft.
Star safety Xavier McKinney signed with the Packers, DT A’Shawn Robinson signed with the Panthers, and Jihad Ward, Adoree’ Jackson, and Isaiah Simmons have been lost to free agency as well.
One of the names reported as a potential addition in the draft is Rutgers star cornerback Max Melton, who according to Art Stapleton of The Record, will be visiting with the Giants during their local Pro Day on Thursday.

Melton has reportedly been doing an outstanding job leading up to the draft, including his performances at the Senior Bowl, the NFL Combine, and last week’s Rutgers Pro Day.
Stapleton added that Melton has made himself a lock to be selected sometime on Day 2 and that the Giants have been doing their homework on him.
Melton ran a 4.39 40-yard dash with a 40.5-inch vertical at the NFL Combine as a 5’11”, 187-pound cornerback prospect.
Melton put up three interceptions and six pass deflections last year for the Scarlet Knights and would be a valuable potential replacement for Adoree’ Jackson.
Outside of 2023 first-rounder Deonte Banks, the Giants have very little depth at corner, with 2023 6th-rounder Tre Hawkins III projected as the starter alongside Banks as of right now and rotational guys in Cor’Dale Flott and Nick McCloud serving as depth pieces.
