The quarterback position is arguably the most important position in all of sports.
So, naturally, in a year where a handful of teams are in need of a franchise quarterback, everything from rumors to odds will be studied closely.
With most people believing that the Chicago Bears will select USC’s Caleb Williams with the first overall pick, the attention will now move to the No. 2 pick, which is held by the Washington Commanders.
LSU’s Jayden Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, was believed to be the next quarterback set to be selected at No. 2.
However, according to DraftKings Sportsbook (via The Purple Persuasion), the odds of Daniels being selected by Washington at No. 2 are dropping.
North Carolina’s Drake Maye has climbed to +100 and Daniels has fallen to -125.

The good news for the Commanders is that they have plenty of options to choose from.
If they go with Daniels, they could very well be getting the most talented quarterback prospect in the draft.
If they decide to go with Maye, they are getting an NFL-ready prospect with all the intangibles (63-18 TD-INT ratio).
Or, perhaps they could look to grab Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. or Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.
But again, it is very fascinating to try and find why some players’ odds are rising and falling.
Odds are greatly affected by everything from unhappy agents to smokescreens from teams to social media activity.
Still, the odds are saying that Daniels is most likely to be drafted at No. 2 overall.
But until that becomes set in stone, no one knows what will happen.
