For months, scouts, journalists, and fans have known that Caleb Williams is going to go No. 1 in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The USC star is the most exciting prospect in this class, drawing comparisons to Patrick Mahomes, and the Chicago Bears are in no position to take risks at this moment.
That’s why the debate has centered around who should go after Williams, but there also seems to be consensus about that.
As shown by The Purple Persuasion on Twitter, LSU star Jayden Daniels is the odds-on favorite to take his talents to Maryland and play for the Washington Commanders, currently having -155 odds at DraftKings.

He’s followed by Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy, Caleb Williams, Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, Joe Alt, Michael Penix Jr., Brock Bowers, and Bo Nix.
As much as scouts have raved about Williams — and rightfully so — Daniels is also an exciting prospect with a sky-high upside.
He’s a polished scrambler with great instincts who has a knack for picking up yards with his feet, and he doesn’t need much space or a big lane to do his thing on the open field.
He’s also a willing passer who has looked poised in the pocket when given enough time to operate, and he won’t hesitate to sling the football down the field if he sees an opening.
Daniels looks like a perfect fit for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.
And barring a major turn of events or a huge surprise, it seems like he’s going to be the first franchise player of the Josh Harris era.
