The Baltimore Orioles have taken over the top spot in the AL East with a 20-11 record.
No team in the American League has scored more runs as of Friday afternoon, and a lot of that success has to do with Gunnar Henderson’s growth at the plate.
Henderson, the reigning AL Rookie of the Year, had already broken out last year with 28 home runs, 10 steals, and a .814 OPS.
However, he is taking it up a notch in 2024 and was named the Player of the Month in the junior circuit this week.
“Gunnar Henderson is one high-flying bird! He is your AL Player of the Month for March/April,” MLB Stats tweeted, along with a graphic showing some of his most impressive numbers.

Henderson is already close to his stolen base tally from last year, with six successful attempts without being caught once.
Henderson was already one of the top up-and-coming players in baseball: now, we can just call him one of the best in the league.
He has the potential to hit over 40 home runs and steal more than 20 bases when everything is said and done, and seems to have cemented his place in the O’s lineup.
No matter how deep and talented Baltimore’s farm system is (and it truly is, considering star infield prospects like Jackson Holliday, Connor Norby, and Coby Mayo are in the minor leagues), there is no way Henderson loses his starting spot after everything he has shown.
He is just too talented for that to happen.
