Team Adjustments
The Hornets have moved forward Josh Okogie to the Greensboro Swarm for a rehab assignment while transferring two-way guard Damian Baugh back to the development squad following Tuesday’s practice. These roster moves come as the team seeks to regain momentum after a period of struggles with injuries.
Okogie’s Injury and Performance
Okogie, acquired from a trade earlier in the season in exchange for Nick Richards, has been sidelined since a left hamstring injury on January 31. He suffered the injury during the third quarter of a game against the Clippers and has missed every subsequent appearance. In his limited time with the team, he averaged 10.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.7 steals while shooting 43.4% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc. The Hornets’ record stands at 2-5 with him on the court and 5-17 since his injury, highlighting the impact of his absence.
Path to Recovery and Future Role
With the season drawing to a close in less than a month, additional game time in Greensboro could prove beneficial in preparing Okogie for the challenges ahead. His defensive prowess aligns well with the team’s current playing style, and with a key player sidelined, he is well-positioned to take on a larger role if he returns to the lineup next season. The Hornets are keen to see him regain form as they continue to build for the future.
