Buffalo Bills Secure Future with Contracts and Re-sign Van Demark
The Buffalo Bills wasted no time in fortifying their roster following a heartbreaking loss in the AFC Championship Game, announcing significant player transactions shortly after the season concluded.
Ryan Van Demark’s Continued Commitment
One notable move by the Bills was re-signing offensive lineman Ryan Van Demark, a crucial piece of their offensive line. At 26 years old, Van Demark, who was set to become an exclusive rights free agent, opted to extend his tenure with the Bills for a third consecutive season. Initially joining the team’s practice squad in 2022, Van Demark demonstrated his value by earning a spot on the active roster in 2024, featuring in 14 regular-season games and making his first two career starts. Notably, he stepped up admirably when called upon to replace the injured starting right tackle, Spencer Brown, during a pivotal Week 11 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite facing competition from rising rookie Tylan Grable, Van Demark remains a linchpin in the Bills’ offensive line plans, underscoring the team’s belief in his capabilities and contributions.
Future Prospects and Roster Additions
In addition to securing Van Demark’s services, Buffalo inked contracts with seven practice-squad players for Reserve/Future deals, ensuring depth and potential for the seasons ahead. Among these signings, five players are emerging from their rookie campaigns, signaling a blend of youthful talent and growth within the Bills’ ranks.
Noteworthy additions include sixth-round cornerback Daequan Hardy and undrafted running back Frank Gore Jr., both showing promise in their debut seasons. Defensive tackle Zion Logue, who saw game action in 2024 after being claimed off waivers, cornerback Te’Cory Couch, and offensive lineman Mike Edwards complete the group of promising signees.
Moreover, the Bills retained second-year offensive tackle Richard Gouraige and former second-round wide receiver KJ Hamler, bolstering their roster with familiarity and potential. Gouraige’s NFL debut in a crucial matchup against the Chiefs and Hamler’s depth as an emergency reserve throughout the season highlight their roles in Buffalo’s future plans.
With these strategic moves, the Bills aim to build on their strengths, address areas of improvement, and cultivate a roster that can contend at the highest levels in the upcoming seasons.
