After a disappointing start to the 2023 NFL season, following the blockbuster trade to send superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, the Green Bay Packers seemed to be headed toward disaster with Jordan Love under center.
Despite starting the year with a record of 2-6, the Packers were able to turn things around and finish the regular season strong while clinching a playoff spot in the NFC for their efforts.
Green Bay finished the regular season with a record of 9-8, which was good enough for the storied franchise to punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs, but few expected them to make any noise in the postseason.
However, the Packers pulled off arguably the biggest upset of the playoffs this season, with Green Bay taking down the second-seeded Dallas Cowboys on the road and then giving the eventual NFC champion San Francisco 49ers all they could handle in the Divisional Round.
Even though the season ended in spectacular fashion, the Packers brass felt some changes needed to be made, namely parting ways with defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
Although it took some time before deciding who Barry’s successor would be, Green Bay has gone the college route by bringing in former Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Even though Hafley’s resume isn’t the most impressive coming out of Boston College, as he finished his stint with a record of 22-26 over the course of four seasons, he’ll get a chance to make a name for himself on the NFL level under Matt LaFleur.
Hafley will have his work cut out for him in Green Bay, with the defensive coordinator position being a revolving door with LaFleur at the helm, as this will be the third time a change has been made at the position.
