For the first time in his NFL career, former No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney will play close to home.
Clowney reportedly had multiple opportunities to sign with the Carolina Panthers in the past, but he didn’t feel mature enough or ready to head back home.
Now, entering the sunset of his career, the former South Carolina star is ready to get back to basics.
However, as remarkable as his resume might be, Panthers DC Ejiro Evero believes he’ll bring way more than just experience to the table.
As quoted by Joe Person of The Athletic, they didn’t only pursue Clowney because of his track record but also for his playing style.
Panthers DC Ejiro Evero says Jadeveon Clowney has a great track record, but “the play style is what I’m excited about.”

Clowney hasn’t exactly always lived up to the hype of being the first player off the board, but he’s been quite serviceable and productive over the past couple of years.
He could’ve still given plenty to a Super Bowl-caliber team.
Instead, he’ll play for a rebuilding franchise that has recently lost their best pass rusher with Brian Burns’ departure.
The Dave Canales era will obviously put an emphasis on the offensive side of the field, hoping that Bryce Young looks much better in his second campaign in the league.
But if Clowney can help anchor their defensive line, perhaps they could fare much better in one of the weakest — if not the weakest — divisions in the league.
Perhaps, all he needs is some home cooking and a familiar environment.
