The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are heading into Week 5 of the 2023 NFL regular season with a record of 3-1 while being in first place in the AFC West division.
Although it appears that the Chiefs are off to a good start to their title defense, superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire with his play over the first four games of the season.
Uncharacteristically, Mahomes has struggled throughout the first month of the season, as he’s coming off a two-interception performance against the New York Jets in a game in which he got outplayed by Zach Wilson on the road at MetLife Stadium.
Ahead of Week 5’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on the road, Mahomes was asked about not playing like himself last Sunday, and he admitted that he’s got to play better moving forward, according to Jordan Foote of Arrowhead Report.
#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on not looking like himself on Sunday:
“I didn’t play very well. It happens. Two of the interceptions, just underthrew by 5-10 yards. . . I’ve got to put us in better positions and make better decisions.”

Even when Mahomes and the team as a whole don’t play up to their usual standard as a title contender, the Chiefs seem to always figure out a way to win, but that can’t last forever, with this squad needing to turn things around sooner rather than later.
In Week 5, the Chiefs will face a formidable offense in Minnesota, with quarterback Kirk Cousins and superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson looking to put up a lot of points against Kansas City.
However, the Vikings can’t stop anyone, so this could end up being a shootout or a game in which the Chiefs defense comes into play.
