The AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens will feature a matchup between two former NFL MVPs in Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.
And while Mahomes has already won two MVPs, Jackson is on the cusp of winning his second after a sensational season where he led the Ravens to the No. 1 seed in the conference.
That performance wasn’t lost on Mahomes, who noted Wednesday via NFL Network that Jackson should win the award because he can do everything on offense.
“He’s gonna be the MVP for a reason,” Mahomes said. “He goes out there, he leads his team, he scores, he runs, he throws. He does whatever it takes to win and that’s what the greats do.”

That’s high praise from one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL who’s won multiple personal accolades and Super Bowls.
Jackson has a chance to do something he’s never done in his career, though, if he can take down Mahomes and the Chiefs in the AFC title game.
Despite his individual successes, Jackson hasn’t won or played in a Super Bowl yet after years of postseason failures.
But this time, he’ll take on an experienced Chiefs squad with the best overall team in his career.
Mahomes and the Chiefs have proven to be resilient even in the face of adversity this year, though, after advancing to their sixth consecutive AFC title game a year after winning their second Super Bowl.
This game could help define Jackson’s career, while a win for Mahomes would only strengthen his growing legacy.
